Legos

Lots of Legos scattered around our house these days.  Finley got a ton of Legos for Christmas - despite our best efforts to keep them under control, they usually end up spread all over the living room.  He loves it when we build things with him - the way this usually plays out is that every time Mom/Dad picks up a Lego, Finley immediately intervenes to point out the error of our ways and instruct us on the correct placement of each piece (apparently this is exactly how a certain other person used to play when said person was a kid).

 The foreman is very happy to have a lackey to do his bidding.

Dad is not exactly Frank Lloyd Wright - he tends to create elaborate but structurally questionable buildings.

The kids sometimes badger us into letting them watch a movie or TV show on the computer.  I think this show is called "Fireman Sam," which apparently is a Welsh cartoon.  It's nice to know that our kids are being exposed to international culture.

One other cute/interesting thing that's been happening lately - the kids are becoming more aware of the new baby (this evening, Finley said out of the blue, "Mom - you've got a big fat belly").  Finley wants it to be a boy; Charlotte is hoping for a "girl sister" or "sisterbaby."  They got really excited last night when they found out that the baby could hear the bedtime story from Mommy's belly.  They started talking to it - first introducing themselves, then sharing all kinds of important information:  "Hi baby.  Our car is blue.  It's a little rusty."  Shannon thinks that they're remembering all the burning questions they had in the womb, and trying to help this baby come into the world more well-informed than they were. (***dear reader: by the way, we are expecting a sisterbaby or brotherbaby in early August.***)
