Hiking Trip to Camden

Last weekend we drove up to Camden for our first real hike with Finley. We've done some small hikes locally (Morse Mtn and Bradbury), but nothing that we'd consider a "real" mountain. Camden has a couple of small mountains (Battie and Megunticook), so we figured it would be a good place to try out our family hiking skills for the first time.

Making some calls to his broker on the drive to Camden.

We decided to hike Megunticook, since Battie is smaller and has an auto road going to the top. It was a beautiful sunny day, but not too hot - perfect for hiking. Finley got restless after riding in the pack for a while, so we took him out for a little hiking of his own. He loved it, although the rocky trail made for very slow going.

Taking a rest - looking focused. No nonsense - he was serious about this hike.

Enjoying the view from the ocean lookout near the summit (the actual summit of Megunticook is not much higher, and it's wooded, so we stopped here to relax and take pictures).

Back in the pack with Daddy.

Family photo! Finley seems to have inherited his dad's tendency to close his eyes just as the camera goes off.

Tired little boy at the end of the trail.

A relaxing yoga pose at home with Mom.

Wow, looks beautiful! Sigh, Maine.

[I think your experience in the West has affected your definition of what makes a "mountain." :)]

Finley is already a little hiker! Do you want to plan to hike this summer??
