Goodnight Moon

Since we haven't blogged for a while, there's a lot to catch up on. The last few days have been busy - Bowdoin graduation on Saturday, a long day at a trail race on Sunday, and a trip to Freeport today. All of this activity has messed up Finley's nap schedule, so he was very tired this evening. Still, for some reason he got a second wind while reading Goodnight Moon.

In fact, he had so much fun that he insisted on reading it himself. In this video, he's making one of his new noises:

Afterward, he was pretty excited and wasn't ready to settle down for bed, so he spent some time crawling around and rummaging in his toy box. Here's a slightly longer video that shows how much his motor skills have developed:

Yesterday Finley spent several hours with a babysitter (one of the Bowdoin ski team members) while Mom and Dad did the Pineland Challenge, a 25/50k trail race. This was the first time we've ever left him for more than an hour or so - we were a bit nervous, but he did fine. After the race, we all laid around in the grass listening to a bluegrass band and nibbling on food trying to get some energy back. It was a beautiful day and a fun event, but unfortunately we weren't vigilant enough about keeping Finley covered up and he got a little too much sun on his face. Clearly this boy is part O'Neil.

Random bonus picture: Finley hard at work on Dad's computer.
